Day 6 - Final Moto Cross - Ranked 19th overall !

Schwinger

Yesterday was a tough day - frame broken, still in pain and an old tire mounted. Because of the hand & the broken rear frame, again there was no time to mount a new tire for the final MX Event on day 6! Is this never going to stop I thought? Thanks God I was lucky based on the organizers miserable mistake on planning the event! In the preparations for the World Cup there were some political differences of the communities, which caused one mayor to cancel providing the racetrack for the Moto Cross on day6! ... yes, this even happens during a World Championship! The organizer did not let himself be distracted and had a way out immediate! The large kart track integrated into the "Autodromo do Algrave" just was redesigned into a "MX / Super Moto" track in only 3 days! You drive on the grass next to the track and cross the tarmac only on a few places at right angles. In addition, on the finish straight, there was a 500 meter piece, which was driven in pure Super MOTO style. First there was disappointment, horror, then laughter and finally thrilling sprint races for the spectators! The drivers also had a lot of fun! In my mx heat, I finished 3rd place, which meant overall place 19 of all CLUB TEAM riders on day 6. For me a dream ranking & another step forward! ... but the step was too small - just by by 12 seconds! After 1500km & some 45 hours of racing at the Sixdays in Portugal I finished 59th place and exactly 12 seconds behind my great teammate Maxi Hahn in position 58 overall, who so became the best German club driver on his first sixdays! Congratulations Maxi! Nico Maier came in 87th in the overall ranking! My TEAM also managed to jump into 16th place overall - out of 124 teams- which we would not have dreamed of, after day1was finished. At the end, our ranking at the Sixdays in Portugal is excellent and also highly rated in the DMSB (German Motorsport Association)! 16th place amongst 124 teams with World Cup riders and world champions is quite impressive! WE ARE PROUD OF THIS! Contributing to this and being repeatedly in the Best German CLUB TEAM of a Sixdays event, is of course a personal success to me!
